August 10, 2017

It's hard to believe that it has already been three months since Chris Cornell's passing. In the time since his tragic loss, tributes and memorials have popped up around the world and now his family is planning to erect a statue in Seattle in the late Soundgarden singer's honor, Cornell's widow Vicky told the Seattle Times.

Wayne Toth, the sculptor who created the Johnny Ramone statue in Los Angeles, will create the Cornell statue and it will be placed somewhere in Seattle, though no location has been selected as of yet. The statue will take about seven months to complete, according to Vicky Cornell.

Seattle is already home to the statue of another Seattle great, Jimi Hendrix, on Capitol Hill. Hendrix is buried at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.

I can see the memorial going somewhere near the "Black Sun" memorial in Volunteer Park, or near "A Sound Garden," the musical sculpture at Magnuson Park from which Soundgarden derived its name.
