Coming to our block party on Saturday night? Here are some facts about our headliner, Michael Franti, that you can use to amuse and amaze your friends!

But here are some tidbits you may have missed.

1. He's a tall glass of water. Michael is 6'6" tall and went to the University of San Francisco on a basketball scholarship.

2. His first band was an industrial/spoken word band called The Beatnigs. Songs included "Burritos" and "Rooticus Sporaticus." Wonder if he'll play either of those at the Sylvee?

3. Michael is an outspoken activist for human rights, and for peace in the Middle East. His album "Yell Fire!" was inspired by a trip to Israel, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Iraq.

4. He owns a yoga resort in Bali called Soulshine, an oasis of yoga, soul, and rock n roll. (It looks absolutely gorgeous, but is probably out of my price range. Check it out here).

5. Michael wrote "Say Hey (I Love You)" in steam in Woody Harrelson's bathroom.

Tickets are still available for the show. Doors open at 5:30pm Saturday at the Sylvee. More info here.
