Rotator Cuff Surgery for Garbage Drummer

Butch Vig, former Madisonian, Grammy winning producer, grunge pioneer and oh yeah---drummer--has some new plans for the summer.

Vig was supposed to be kicking off a European tour with his band, Garbage, starting off at the Isle of Wight Festival, but instead he's undergoing rotator cuff surgery.

Here's the statement from the band on their facebook page:

It is with disappointment that we announce Butch Vig will be unable to join Garbage on the upcoming European run. He has torn his rotator cuff and it requires both surgery and a period of recuperation that will not allow Butch to participate in these dates. Butch will be ably replaced by Matt Walker who has performed a similar function for the Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey and many others. The good news is this surgery is a very common one and many professional athletes have had it to brilliant results and Butch will be back on his drum riser playing again in a few months. We wish him the best of luck with the surgery and we so appreciate your patience with these touring adjustments.

Triple M extends those healing vibes as well and hope you're back banging those drums very soon.
