Record Store Day is coming up this Saturday, April 16th, and the variety of items that will be available is pretty awe-inspiring.

I scrolled through the list and these are some of the items I found to be interesting.

David Bowie fans have several releases to choose froim, including a picture disc of "The Man Who Sold the World."  Other artists issuing colored vinyl or picture discs include Brandi Carlile, the DOors, Bob Dylan, Muse, Mumford and Sons and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Do you like classic country music? Pick up Best of the Johnny Cash Show on vinyl. Are your old Monkees albums trashed? You can get a set of 10 classic Monkees albums on Record Store Day. How's this for a throwback? A reissue of the 45 for "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas!  You'll be the envy of all your friends.

I already have an original copy of this, otherwise I'd be snapping it up--the original soundtrack to the Dark Shadows TV show!

Star Wars fans can pick up "The Force Awakens" picture disc (complete with a pic of the Milennium Falcon!) Like to listen to vinyl and quench your thirst? Dogfish Head Brewery has put together an album "Music to Drink Beer To," along with a beer of the same name. You'll probably have to go to a liquor store to pick up teh beer, as most record stores don't have liquor licenses.

If you're a fan of some of the newer music we play at Triple M, you might want to look for releases from Frank Turner, Foals, Florence and The Machine, or Lukas Graham.

If you love Madison music, this is pretty awesome. In conjunction with the official movie of Record Store Day "The Smart Studios Story," Butch Vig and Steve Marker will be at Mad City Music Saturday afternoon signing copies of an official RSD cassette featuring music recording at the legendary studio over the years. Mad City says to watch their Facebook page for more details.
