Time to Buy Sgt. Pepper again!

Another Beatles reissue

May 22, 2017

The Beatles are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the classic album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with several reissue packages that a lot of fans (like me) are anxious to hear.

I got my first copy of Sgt. Pepper in the mid-70s when I asked for that "Beatles Rock and Roll Music" compilation for Christmas. My brother Tim got me that, plus a copy of Sgt. Pepper, saying "this is the way they're meant to be listened to."  So while I haven't been listening to the classic album for 50 years--I have spent four decades listening to the album with fantastic songs like "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," "With a Little Help From My Friends" and "A Day in the Life."

I still have my original vinyl, my CD from the 80s and the remaster from 2009 and don't intend to get rid of any of them! The new CD has been remixed by George Martin's son, and while I'm excited to hear it, I will never tire of the original mix!

The reissues come in several forms and prices--all the way up to the Super Deluxe Box Set (retail 149.99), which also includes the album in 5.1 surround. I can't wait to hear songs like "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" and "Good Morning Good Morning" swirling all around me!

The new Sgt. Pepper goes on sale Friday.
