When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time in the hospital, and I remember the excitement I felt when the toy cart came around and I could choose a toy.

Here's a way for you to put a smile on the face of a child at American Family Children's Hospital.

Cormac is a young boy who is in treatment for leukemia at AFCH. He and his mom thought it would be a cool idea to collect toys and fill the Child Life toy box at the hospital by Cormac's birthday in July.

Cormac's mom, Carrie Ann, says a gift from the Child Life toy box might take the pressure off the parent of a sick child, even just for a moment, to allow the parent to take a breath, recharge, and maybe even see their child experience some joy during a difficult time.

Already a lot of people have given, but more is needed! Donations are common during the holidays, but the need is just as great other times of the year. So if you could, check out the Amazon wish list and buy an item or two. Items include books and sticker books, Lego's, games, dolls and more.

You can also donate items in person, as long as they fit the hospital's donation guidelines--no used toys, no stuffed animals, no toys of a violent nature. Find out more on the Facebook event page.
