5 Things You Didn't Know about John Lennon

In honor of the 77th anniversary of his birth, here are some random John Lennon facts I've come across over the years.

1. In 1967, Lennon bought a small island, called Dorinish, off the coast of Ireland for around 2-grand. There was a hippie commune located there for a couple years, but it for the most part has remained uninhabited. Yoko sold the island in 1984 but Beatles fans still like to sail by and check it out.

2. John was afraid of the dark, and kept a light on while he slept.

3. While on tour with the Beatles, Lennon enjoyed playing Monopoly. I'm not sure which token he preferred, but I'd like to think it was the shoe.

4. Yoko Ono signed over the royalties of John's song "Imagine" to Amnesty International. This year, the song Imagine was turned into a children's book, with proceeds also going to Amnesty International.

5. When John and Yoko co-hosted the Mike Douglas Show for a week in 1972, they trashed their dressing rooms.
